Here’s Mike and I giving a quick walk through of CrossFit Memphis. We point out a few of the unique pieces of exercise equipment we use that aren’t typical of a traditional American fitness center as well as provide some clips of people using each item.

Gymnastics rings, Olympic weightlifting bumper plates, weightlifting platforms, powerlifitng specialty bars, sleds, chains, bands, mma mats, muay thai bags and pads are a few of the items mentioned.

The best part of the gym in actuality is not so much the cool equipment but the unique community and environment in which the training takes place. Everyone is here for the same reasons and knows each other on a first name basis.

BATL Training for 2009 CrossFit Games Day 5 Part I

Circuit 2 from Day 5, Saturdays BATL Training for the 2009 CrossFit Games went well. The work was loaded but we skimmed on the volume. In other words, though this is the second 3 Circuit Cycle we performed, we could have done more. More reps per exercise, an additional Circuit or 2 we could have even added additional or tougher exercises and we will. Count on that! Again, Last Day of the 1st Week, 14 more to go and more videos to come.

We Will GROW UP!

300 Workout

Here is the order for the 300 workout from Men’s Health Magazine.

First you will start with 25 Pull-ups using your bodyweight and as few of sets as possible.

Then you move directly into a Deadlift for 50 repetitions.

After that, you’ll do 50 Push-ups.

Once you’ve completed that exercise, then you’ll do 50 Box Jumps on a 24″ platform.

Next, is 50 Floor Wipers. To perform this exercise, lie on your back while holding a barbell with arms extended. Next, bring your feet up to each side, making sure your feet touch down each time in the middle between sides. That counts as one repetition.

After the Floor Wipers, you’ll do 25 repetitions of Kettlebell Clean Presses for each arm, making sure to touch the kettlebell to the floor in between each repetition.

Then you finish with 25 more Pull-ups.

And that’s the 300 workout, all 300 repetitions using 7 exercises.

Clean and Jerks are essential to a CrossFit exercise and weight training program

Gator CrossFit, www.gatorcrossfit.com. The clean and jerk is one of two olympic weightlifting events (the other being the snatch). It is a highly technical lift that is known as “the king of lifts” because more weight can be lifted above one’s head as compared to any other known weightlifting technique. We utilize the Clean and Jerk at Gator CrossFit to elicit as much power and speed to significantly improve one’s strength and endurance.

Workout at Home: The Crossfit Inspired 21-15-9 Circuit

21-15-9s Circuit Inspired by Crossfit Workout
Exercise 1: Deadlift
Exercise2: Kettlebell Swing
Exercise3 : Burpee to pull ups

Time: 12 Minutes

21-15-9 reps of the exercises in rounds (or any two or three exercises as given) you do 21 reps of exercise 1, followed by 21 reps of exercise 2, and 21 reps of exercise 3. Now do 15 of the first, 15 of the second9 of the first, 9 of the second. Ect..

Most likely you will be breaking the 21s and 15s (and maybe the 9s) into subsets, aka breakdowns. This is based on your strength and conditioning. Remember if you need to adjust the weight downward, do so because this is a timed workout.
