what are people’s thoughts on crossfit?

so what’s up with crossfit? Is it really that great? What’s the benefits of doing crossfit over working out on gym machines and free weights?
and I have a form arthritis and I’m trying to help it by being active and I’m wondering which would be better. Crossfit or just ordinary gym workout?

Crossfit is way better than just doing gym machines by yourself. If you have a trainer or you know what you’re doing with free weights, it can be about equal. I did Crossfit for a while before moving on to something else, and my aunt who is over 60 does it and loves it. Here’s a list of pros and cons to Crossfit, off the top of my head.

Pros:
* Really varied training, one day you do one workout, next time you do something totally different. You always feel like you got a good workout and it’s a lot of fun.
* Other people you train with are really into it.
* Wide variety of exercises you perform, which is great for learning.
* Excellent results.

Cons: (depending on where you train, some or all may be absent)
* Can be very demanding physically and mentally.
* You may do exercises, such as the snatch, without being properly taught it.
* Ignores the fact that strength grows linearly when you first start working out. Claims to develop a high level of strength, but in reality the results are more modest.
* Can be expensive.

In my opinion, you should check out Crossfit. If the thought of working out hard doesn’t put you off I think you’ll really like it.

is this violating any copyright laws?

Hi,
I am a college athlete, MMA fighter, and going into the military. I have to train for all three, so I decided to make my own website to sell the workout I made for myself. Once every week in the workout, I reference CrossFit. My workout description would read like this

Crossfit
"Angie"
description of workout

Is this legal or is there some type of law against that. I am showing that they created that particular workout not me.

I think it is violating copyright laws because you are profiting from their proprietary "Angie" workout. If you were just naming the "Angie" workout without describing it, it would be fine. This is analogous to having to pay royalties to a musician to use his music in another for profit production like a television show. If your workout was for personal non commercial use and not to sell the workout then I think it would be fine.

Can anyone tell me a bit more about CrossFit?

I’ve heard that this is a good workout regime, and I was wondering if anyone could provide more info on it? There isn’t anywhere nearby me that offers courses in CrossFit, so I was wondering if this was something that I could do on my own or should I only do it (at least initially) under the guidance of a trainer?

You can do it on your own. However, don’t throw proper form and safety out the window. Always have a spotter and learn the proper techniques before do the lift with weight. A spotter can let you k ow if you’re not doing it right.

Crossfit, like any routine, is what you make it.

My Back Really Hurts, can any one help?

I use this website, crossfit.com, and I do the workouts they say on there every day. 3 fridays ago, they had a lift where it had u doing 1-10-1-20-1-30 deadlifts ,which means you do one dead lift, then 10, etc. My lower back was in pain for the first two week when ever i sat down, and now it just hurts whenever I get up or stretch it in a weird way. Im only 20 years old, so it doesn’t hurt cuz I’m old or anything, and I have no idea what to do to make it better. I haven’t lifted since the day it happens, and I take ibprufen and I massage it with heat and it it still messed up. Any suggestions
I don’t think its anything too serious because its just my lower back, but nothing else is affected, but it feels like its my spine and not muscle

At this point, you should probably go to a doctor. It sounds a like either a pull or something wrong with the spine. But it seems worse than a pull, because pulls don’t last for two weeks. A masseuse could help also, but if it’s worse than a pull, which I think it is, he won’t help at all. A sports doctor will be your best bet.

But don’t give up crossfit. It’s really, really good. Did you do a deadlift incorrectly? Because the deadlift is really really safe, if you do it correctly.

Lean Muscle Supplements?

Hey, I’m joining the military and really need to increase my strength as fast as I can. I’m started a pretty good Crossfit regimen for the workouts but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to which supplements I should be taking. Right now I’m not taking anything. I’m not trying to put on a ton of weight due to the fact that I’m mostly going to be doing tons of pushups, pullups, sit ups etc.. lots of body weight exercises because that’s really what I’m going to be doing. Tons of endurance exercises. Any info would be appreciated.

I use Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey, its what everyone uses for building muscle, and it gives good results.
